Bonnee Pecquex & Alan Jarman

The birth of Brooksvale Artisans began quite innocently, many years ago, when Alan decided to renovate an old house and went on a search to purchase the machinery and tools necessary to do the job in a manner authentic to the home's nineteenth century character. This search brought him to visit many old factories here in New England that is sadly ending it's tenure as the home of manufacturing and innovation. Our state of Connecticut has long been a place where items were produced, starting with furniture and cabinet-making before the Revolutionary War to the manufacture of state-of-the-art aircraft and submarines today. Eli Whitney, and Stanley Tools proudly called Connecticut home for many years, and produced their wares in factories here.

And so, Alan was successful in finding the tools he needed to do the job, as he visited these factories, and auctions. What he also found, was that many of these beautiful, well-made, and perfectly functioning machines, were unwanted, and being sent to the scrapyard. Unable to bear witness to such atrocities, Alan, (being the kindhearted soul that he is) decided to take all of these unloved treasures with him, and give them a home...in our home, and in our garage, and in our yard...

And it was on one particular trip to a print shop filled with old Hamilton letterpress cabinets, and other beautiful pieces of furniture, that Bonnee became increasingly interested, and delighted by the treasures that Alan was now bringing home. And so, evolved, a marriage of creativity, necessity, functionality and beauty between two people and their love of the handmade, vintage pieces that are part of this collection.

And now, three warehouses later, here we sit, with all of these beloved treasures, and the knowledge that there are many, many souls out there, just like us,, who have a love and admiration, and yes, even a need for all of these salvaged treasures. And so, we share with them, and now, with you, the opportunity to own one of these very special pieces of history!
